Horizon Compact Treadmill

Compact treadmills are great for several reasons.  First of all, they help keep you healthy.  I love having a treadmill that I can use anytime I want.  Right now, it is cold, wet, and raining outside.  I need to run, but I want to watch the basketball game too.  Thankfully, a treadmill takes care of everything.  I can run inside while I watch the ballgame.  I stay healthy and still get to do what I want.

After much research, I finally bought a treadmill.  The one that I purchased was the Horizon Evolve SG Compact Treadmill, and this is my review as to why I chose this Horizon compact treadmill over the others.

First of all, let’s go over some of the attributes of the Horizon compact treadmill.  It has a very compact design which can fold down to 10” high and 59” long.  I usually slide it under my bed, but it could be stored in a closet or garage as well.  It is not terribly heavy, but you don’t want to move it around all that often either.  I think the manufacturer says it weighs around 99 pounds.  I generally just slide mine around to keep from picking it up.

Now the motor on this Horizon Compact Treadmill is not as large as the others, and it only goes up to 6 mph.  You can get more stuff in other compact treadmills, but you are going to have to pay more for it as well.  I use mine mainly for speed walking inside; I do my running outside when I go to the park.  Its track is 45” long and is perfect for my stride.  I am not quite 6 feet tall, so I don’t know how it would work for an especially tall person, but I would think that it would be OK.

The only thing that I miss on this treadmill is that it only has 2 running programs.  I would like a bit more variety, but I can get by since I do mix up treadmill running with outdoor running.  But just a note – if you exercise only on the treadmill, you may want one with more running programs.

Now this Horizon Compact Treadmill has LCD displays of time, speed, distance, and the number of calories burned.  I have always liked the calorie counter because I can relate how much I have to walk to the number of calories in food.  I know that if I eat that whole bag of M&Ms, then I will have to speed walk 40 minutes to burn off the calories I just ate.

One more thing that I really like about this Horizon Evolve SG Compact Treadmill is the fact that no assembly was required.  I absolutely hate putting stuff together, so this was a big bonus for me.  One frustrating thing that another customer noticed as well was that the running track had to be moving to get your statistics from the LED display.  The tendency is to stop walking and then see how far you walked, how many calories you burned, etc., but you have to stay moving to see these stats
